Our Perillo guide explained the stories portrayed by the stained glass of Milan's Duomo. In the days before literacy was common, these picture stories were vitally important. From the Perillo website: "The Milan Duomo is the third largest church in the world and can seat 40,000 worshippers. Its style is a mixture of Gothic and Baroque elements as its construction took several centuries to complete. Inside and out, people stare in amazement at the beauty of the large number of spires, statues, gargoyles, stained glass, and turrets. The marble Tomb of Giacomo de Medici sits in the southern part of the church while high above looms a golden Madonna."
Each month the Church of the Nazarene hosts the Angel Food Ministries program. It consists of many volunteers from the church and is part of the community outreach.
For about $20.00, all participants from all walks of life receive $50.00 - $60.00 dollars worth of quality food items.
You do not have to be a member of the church to receive this, which is really cool.
This video is a short 3 min. documentary about this ministry.
Michael Maxwell plays a sad and lonely vampire. Repulsed by what he is and what he has to do to stay alive, he seeks answers from Holy Scriptures and help from the church. In the end, he finally succumbs to his unrelenting hunger and is forced to take a victim.
In this exploration into the value of self sacrifice, we see that the pathway of true love is paved with the pain of letting go. God has something better for us around the corner that we can't see yet, but we have to let go of what we're too happy to control right now. We discover that letting go is a constant process that makes room for growth in our lives when we give it up to God and make a trade. We give up what we are holding on to in order to make room to receive what He has for us. Hear testimony of the growth process and what it took for a Foursquare church and a Baptist church to let go and come together as one in the Lord. 03.11.07 (video iPod friendly)
Special guest Pastor Joe Allen share a message of his experiences of church planting and missionary work and God's call on his life to impact South Africa (see entrust-ministries.org). Hear first hand and straight from his mouth what it is like to live on the edge of your faith. We hear that God's love can be felt in something as simple as a hand shake. And we see that your mission doesn't have to involve overseas trips, but can start right at home with your family and friends. 03.18.07 (video iPod friendly)

Has Christianity failed you? The barriers to belief in the Christian gospel often reach far beyond the intellect as we search for truth and meaning in a fallen world. Too many people have been disappointed or hurt by the church and/or individual Christians -- and then, have turned away from Christianity, harboring deep-seated feelings of distrust and bitterness.

According to the Documentary History of the Church (DHC) 2:235, it was on July 3, 1835 when Michael Chandler "came to Kirtland (OH) to exhibit some Egyptian mummies." According to the record, "There were four human figures, together with some two or more rolls of papyrus covered with hieroglyphic figures and devices." Chandler's display so intrigued the Mormons living in Kirtland that they told the traveling showman how their prophet, Joseph Smith, had the ability to translate the papyri... MRM.org

David had a lifelong love for God that drew him to seek the Lord. He was drawn toward the Lord with an embracing kind of love. He is a model placed before us in God's Word of what pleases the Lord.
Start with me at the beginning of Psalm 18, where we saw the last recorded words of David. David's relationship with the Lord was not theoretical, it was real and it was HIS and he knew it and said it—to the end!

The early church had a passion to be in one accord with God, and to be together. When the Spirit of God comes in, it makes us want to be with other Christians and seek after God.

It is hard to fully comprehend how much lasting impact one single human life can accomplish. Think of just David's brief lifetime. Three thousand years ago he lived and died—yet today millions and millions of people read, quote, memorize, gather comfort and hope, and sing the words he wrote in the Psalms.

God’s desire is that you know Him; He wants you to start early and remember your Creator when you are young—and then never forget Him.
As a youth, David remembered His Creator. In fact I believe that’s why a weary and exhausted Solomon—who had chased every pleasure the human mind could conceive, came to the conclusion that his dad was right.
Solomon, perhaps too late, realized that the only way to live and the best way to die--is to do so reflecting on the plans that God had for us in the first place. Solomon found out after his restless pursuit of all the world had to offer--that nothing but God satisfies, and that life and death can be quite empty when God is left out.

The New Testament opens in the Gospels with Matthew and Luke introducing God—as He invades humanity.
God who came to enter the world and take upon Himself humanity was God the Son, Jesus Christ. This incarnation is described in the term Son of Man as God the Son becomes 100% man—yet without sin.

AT THE NAME OF JESUS--"For He will save His people from their sins”
Our New Testament opens with the glorious advent of Christ the Promised One; God the Son came to Earth to save sinners.
Christmas is really has one theme and one central message—Jesus came to save people from their sins. That is the way He is introduced to us; those are the first words recorded about Jesus in the New Testament.
Christmas as the Matthew 1:21 introduces it, is year round--because Christmas means remembering Christ's coming to Earth to save people from their sins.

Jesus is the greatest person who has ever lived; each year we celebrate His Birth as the coming of our salvation.
Salvation is the greatest gift of all.
Salvation is the only gift that everyone really needs.
Salvation is presented to us as the ultimate Christmas gift in what is perhaps the best known verse of the Bible. Why not say that verse with me, it is John 3:16.

The saddest story of Christmas is how those closest to Christ's birth completely missed that first Christmas; and that tragedy has continued to this day. You can be so close and yet so far away!
The real purpose of Christmas was shown by God at Christ's birth, God confronted the world with the only gift everyone really needs.
Christmas is about the gift no one seeks but everyone needs.
God so loved the world that He sent Jesus to save lost people from their sins.
God came to provide the only gift that everyone absolutely, critically needs—the substitutionary death of His Son, who came to meet our critical, eternal-life-threatening need prompted by our sins.
So the gift of Christmas is Christ's work of salvation. That gift involves meeting the critical needs each of us have in our lost, sinful and fallen condition.

Do you know why the early church was persecuted? They made a choice to stand out from the crowd and be a pillar for Christ. As we walk down the cardos of life, we are to be massive pillars displaying Jesus Christ to the world.
What does that look like? How can I stand out as a pillar of purity? As a pillar of mercy? A pillar of truth and peace? How can I become a pillar in God's house?
Have you asked the Lord to make you a pillar displaying His doctrine?

God's prescribed manner of worship was inconvenient. Today the character of worship in America is convenience. If I can't find a parking space right in front of the church, I'll probably go someplace else. That's not God's way of worship. Jeroboam lowered God's standards. He directly disobeyed the rules God had set down for worship. There was a Biblical illiteracy in Israel just as there is today in America. Christ was God's perfect sacrifice. God's worship is centered on Jesus and his payment for our sins. God no longer sees our sins--only Christ's sacrifice.
